The Luxus plugin, like Reality plugin for DAZ Studio, may even be released as source code now. It was once sold in the DAZ 3D store but isn't anymore. The Luxus plugin from what I could find was for Cararra and not DAZ Studio. There is or was (the store search isn't working so I can't tell if there still available) the Luxus plugin for Lux renderer for both DS and Carrera. But why did you but that thing?īesides the previously mentioned Reality and Poser.
Not true, I have a 2019 or 2020 year model PNY GeForce GTX 1650 Super 4GB and well you can see from the name it has less than 6GB RAM.ġ650, I knew there was one I'd forgotten. Withdrew? So it is a Kepler? Your complaint is with Nvidia. However fact is Iray just withdraw suppot for a GPU which is previously supported and currently available to purchase everywhere and even while other GPU render engines still working for that card. I know you know it is some low end card, because I know you or your expertness. Say what it is because your vagueness is telling me that it is some low end card. This GPU is one of the best selling GPU at present, or may be it is the best selling GPU ever. Currently available at Amazon with tags Amazon's Choice, more than 5000 ratings and most of them are 5 and 4 star. My GPU was working till yesterday without any problem.
So you seem to be talking about very old HW not recent generation low to medium tier GPU's. Only the very lowest end Pascal cards have less than 6Gb of VRAM (3gb 1060, 1050ti, 10). Not sure what you are even talking about. My hardware Nvidia GPU is currently cannot render Iray and I am looking for Iray alternative. Almost all low and medium GPU became useless specially low VRAM GPUs. A simple scene require almost 3GB VRAM which is insane. But being unexperienced with GPU rendering, I'm not sure how well the GTX 1060 performs for that sort of thing - but I do know that it'll do a helluva lot better than anything I've owned so far.Iray is money and resource hog utility.

However, for that same ~$1,000, I've found that I can build a new AMD tower PC with a Ryzen 8 core CPU, which hyperthreads to 16 logical cores (hyperthreading in both occasions takes place on the motherboard chipset/cpu, we don't have to ask it to) with 32GB RAM (upgradable to 64) and a GTX 1060 GPU - and that estimated figure includes new harddrives and Windows 10 Home 64 bitīoth of the above options are more than capable of using either PBR or Carrara's CPU-using render engines - even both. Now we can buy laptop computers with an 8th generation i7 CPU with six cores that hyperthread to 12 logical cores, 16GB or more RAM, and a GTX 1060 for not much more than $1,000 Technology has really grown since I built that one six years ago.

The Carrara machine I have now is (finally, after six years of running wide open for days on end) on its death bed, but after I built it, I wrote an article about it in my ►►► Carrara Information Manual ◄◄◄ Curious, I asked him how difficult it is to build ones own PC, so he guided through the process. My first trainee (whom has now taken my place) was an art major and was in the process of building a new gaming computer. When I was first getting into rendering in 3D and Carrara, I was a foreman of custom stonework for a large (for this area) landscaping firm. That's not to say that I'm not going to really get into Luxus for Carrara and the newer LuxusCore for Carrara in th future.
But I have a better CPU than GPU, and have really come to love setting up shaders for the default Carrara Photorealistic render engine. I own Luxus for Carrara, and think it's pretty cool. I'm not much of a Daz Studio buff, so I might be wrong, but I think that Reality was for Luxrender, wasn't it?
